Financial Services Connections Business Law Program, Communication Course
LEAP is currently working on designing and developing a 20-hour communication course for Acces Employment and Ryerson University’s Financial Services Connections Business Law Program. This course focuses on enhancing the ability of IEP students enrolled in the course to communicate in speaking and in writing the legal concepts they learn in their business law course. This course is scheduled to start in the fall of 2010.
CA Bridging Program, Writing and Speaking Courses
In the summer of 2010, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) launched a bridging program in partnership with the University of Lethbridge. As part of this program, they included two communication courses; Writing English for Success in the Workplace and Speaking English for Success in the Workplace. These communication courses were designed and developed by LEAP and tailored to meet the needs of students entering into this great program with their sights set on a CA designation.
Accounting for Language Luncheon Series
Presented by CMA Ontario and LEAP We are pleased to announce the Accounting for Language workshops offered at the CMA Ontario’s brand new Professional Development Institute. As of January 2010, CMA members and non-members can register for a variety of pronunciation, writing and reading courses geared towards accounting professionals whose first language is other than English.
CMA ESL Lecture Ready, Accelerated Program Primer
In the summer of 2009, LEAP was commissioned by the CMA Ontario to create a supplemental resource for ESL candidates in the Accelerated Program. This resource contains a Pre-Program Study Guide, which teaches candidates how to better comprehend academic lectures, and Pre-Lesson Worksheets, which outline key questions and concepts, terms and their pronunciation, for each week’s lecture. This resource has been very well received by both CMA staff and candidates.
